Overview

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Communication Manager is responsible for creating, writing, and editing content and technical documentation for RLF's marketing and communications deliverables. This person must have expertise in style and grammar guidelines, excellent interviewing and research skills, and the ability to translate and adapt technical terms into content that inspires various audiences. The marketing copywriter must have the ability to attune content along the spectrum of storytelling and technical writing. Experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry is preferred, with specialization in the Government, Healthcare, Communities, and Higher Education markets.

Responsibilities and objectives:
  • Collaborate with marketing, business development, sector leaders, and department leaders to write proposal content on tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with marketing toward effective proposal messaging, storytelling, and content
  • Consult with communications to make recommendations about content for internal and external audiences
  • Collaborate in the creation of communications materials, including press releases, video scripts, website, social media, newsletters, and intranet content
  • Ensure brand messages are being communicated precisely and properly
  • Use storytelling to communicate technical information in a way that engages various audiences
  • Execute multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently and with other collaborators
  • Edit the writing of team members and incorporate this writing into proposals and communications materials with a unified voice
  • Maintain and proactively update collection of standard documents used for marketing efforts, including overviews, white papers, project descriptions, technical documents, and resumes
  • Write diverse marketing and communications content as needed, including editing award submittals, website content, social media posts, and more
  • Maintain style guide, serving as the authority on organization-specific style decisions
  • Interview department leaders and team members to become familiar with specific teams and their market sectors
  • Research industry press, trade publications, local publications, and past proposals to learn more about market specific terminology, concepts, and the competitive landscape
Qualifications
  • Four-year journalism, English, business, or technical degree
  • Minimum 10 years of prior experience in a technical writing or journalism role
  • Experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry preferred
  • Specialization in the Government, Healthcare, Communities, and Higher Education markets
  • Mastery of grammar and style guidelines, including AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Proficient at writing engaging headlines and copy
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel). Knowledge of searching CRM databases desired, but not necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
