Position Description:

As our Marketing Content Manager, you’ll own our content strategy and execution across all channels and mediums. You’ll create our first-ever content calendar and work with internal teams to understand the seasonality of our business and devise the best messages and channels to get our message to the right audience. This will include, but not be limited to, blog, email, site, social, event, and video content strategy. This role will report to the Senior Director of Marketing and support a rapidly growing part of the business.


Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Responsible for creating and owning our editorial calendar
  • Have a strong understanding of SEO best practices
  • Work closely with internal constituents to develop timely and relevant content for our target audience
  • Run quarterly planning meetings to align on content needs for upcoming seasons
  • Become well-versed in the education industry seasonality
  • Create briefs that accurately articulate the content needs you have for our design team to execute on
  • Work with social media and campaign leads to align on strategy, testing, execution, and performance reporting
  • Create KPI reports and provide monthly recommendations on performance improvements
  • Manage internal and external content creation teams, agencies, and tools as needed
  • Develop content strategy for social media to ensure growth in followers as well as engagement
  • Assist with planning of industry conferences and events to ensure messaging and content is aligned with your strategy
  • Develop content strategy for email campaigns that lead to opens and clicks and ultimately leads
  • Lead video strategy that allows us to enhance all marketing channels


Primary Objectives:

  • Create and manage all aspects of our content strategy
  • Ensure we are aligned to seasonal needs and assets are created in a timely manner to impact those seasons effectively
  • Oversee delivery of all content pieces and ensure they are delivered on time to be used in various campaigns.
  • Grow organic traffic


Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Own Editorial Calendar
    • Create annual editorial calendar
    • Align business needs to messaging and seasonal changes
    • Run planning meetings to ensure assets are stories are created in a timely manner
  • Grow Organic SEO traffic
    • Leverage SEO tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz etc to manage SEO strategy and performance
    • Create a strong blog strategy to help us gain more organic leads
  • Align with internal and external partners
    • Meet regularly with partners to align content needs
    • Internal partners include but are not limited to, design, copywriting, state directors, support team
    • External partners include but are not limited to media agencies, other business units, and video production.
  • Manage Content Database
    • Ensure all content assets are maintained and organized for easy access


Job Requirements:

    • Superior communication skills
  • Strong understanding of SEO content principles
  • Proven track record of copywriting for demand generation
  • Great at telling a story using words, images, or audio, and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience
  • The ability to think like an educator, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to assemble, motivate and extract key principles from a wide range of people and groups


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ Years of Experience managing marketing content strategy
    • Impeccable writing and editorial skills, with an outstanding command of the English language
    • A strong understanding of common editorial style guides, e.g., AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, etc.
  • Working knowledge of alternative teacher certification is a big plus


Travel:

Requires <15% travel.
