The Trevor Project is the leading organization working to end LGBTQ youth suicide in the U.S. and beyond. The nonprofit operates several programs to help prevent and respond to the public health crisis of LGBTQ youth suicide, including 24/7 free crisis services, research, advocacy, education, and peer support.

Overview of the role

The Marketing Strategist will design and lead high-impact integrated marketing campaigns with the aim of reaching and engaging with our youth and/or adult audiences, within the context of a specific campaign pillar or theme. You will be experienced in developing holistic, cross-channel marketing strategies based on a defined audience.

You’ll also support our Corporate Partnerships team, building partner relationships and collaborating with partners on campaign strategy and messaging in support of LGBTQ young people.

This role reports to the Senior Marketing Strategist and will collaborate extensively with colleagues from across the broader organization and with our corporate partners.

What you'll be doing

  • Contribute to our critical mission of ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people, while fostering an inclusive approach to your direct work and engagement with Trevor colleagues across the organization
  • Utilize available audience research to deeply understand our audiences; who they are, their motivators/demotivators, and their online and offline behaviors.
  • Develop omnichannel marketing strategies leveraging audience insights, focused on a specific campaign pillar, examples include:
  • Marketing campaigns that will engage with youth during the moments that matter in their journey of self-discovery and acceptance
  • Marketing campaigns driven by relationships with our corporate sponsors
  • Brand campaigns to increase awareness and further the positive public perception of the organization
  • Serve as the point person for folks inside the organization for your marketing campaign pillar and supporting campaign activation moments, as well as being the point person with external partners when necessary
  • Coordinate campaign strategy and partner with the Journey Marketing team on execution across all Trevor channels including email, social media (paid and organic), newsletters, and internal communications
  • Represent Trevor with our corporate partnerships, including relationship and stakeholder management, content & messaging strategy, research, KPI tracking, and reporting.
  • Support with web asset implementation (lightboxes, blogs, product partners, etc.)
  • Own the review process from a marketing standpoint.
  • Seek out opportunities to build outside partnerships (i.e. with peer organizations, corporate development partners, other nonprofits, etc.) to activate at key moments for Trevor
  • Utilize third-party platforms like MailChimp, Asana, and SproutSocial for project implementation
