The Material Handler is responsible for the monitoring raw material levels and unloading rail cars, trucks with (raw) materials of the department Acid and Derivatives. Ensure that the unload activities happens safely according to the procedures. Perform daily checks to ensure the integrity of the unload systems and storage systems.

• Value of raw materials used per shift produced per shift: up to $50,000
• Timely loading/unloading trucks: avoid up $150 per hour of demurrage charges.

Essential Job Functions:

• Monitoring raw and auxiliary material levels (Lime, Hydroxide, Fermentation Nutrients, etc.) used in the production processes. Monitor the unload activities, in the field and from the control room, on the basis of the standard operating procedures, regulations, and additional instructions of the supervisor. This includes:
  • The start-up, operation, control and monitoring of unloading processes, in the field and from the control room.
  • The exchange of control findings between the technician in the plant and the technician in the control room, and the execution of specified control and operation actions.
• Taking samples of incoming raw materials for laboratory analysis.
• Solving, within the limits of authority, non-routine problems with consequences for installations, processes, the environment and/or occupational health and safety (OH&S), and informing or consulting the supervisor/manager about these matters and dealing with them in the manner discussed.
• Transport of raw and auxiliary materials to process equipment by means of forklift truck. Inspection of incoming tanker trucks, giving directions to drivers, unloading raw and auxiliary materials (bulk) into storage tanks and entering receiving in the computer system.
• Receiving raw materials in the ERP system for accounting purposes. This includes:
  • Receiving and checking Bill of Ladings for bulk shipments.
  • Keeping unload and storage systems in operational condition, in order to achieve minimum loss of productivity and thus creating maximum availability
  • Registering data and handing over the production processes in a manner that guarantees optimal progress of the process
• Occasional coverage of the opposite shift

• Executes QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.
• Performs within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.

General Working Environment

• 
  Material Handlers are required to work outside of the plant, on an elevated surface, with some tasks taking place in an office environment.

• Material Handlers will work in an industrial environment, and will have to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves and uniform clothing.

• Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between -15oF and 120oF depending on location and the activities involved.

Through the course of a typical shift an individual in this position will perform the following activities;

• Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical activity 25% of time and lift weight up to 50lbs

• Must be able to lift or pull heavy objects daily, in excess of 50lbs
