Position Overview:

Dana Slidell, LA is seeking an experienced Materials/Warehouse Technician to process all incoming and outgoing shipments of equipment and parts at the Dana Slidell Repair and Service Facility. The incumbent is responsible for processing all material and movements in and through the warehouse.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Safety, Quality, and Environmental Policies
  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. This includes but is not limited to taking pictures / packaging / crating / palletizing / painting / coating.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Records parts locations into inventory using warehouse management system.
  • Separates inbound shipments and tags with part number and customer information.
  • Stages and audits all outbound shipments (Tags / Decals / Brochures / Breathers).
  • Ensures proper processing and record keeping for Bills of Ladings
  • Loads shipments on appropriate carriers for pickup and delivery of equipment / parts.
  • Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment, metal tags, etc…
  • Assures that loads do not exceed maximum weight.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with management to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Designates, moves and records location of material to appropriate warehouse location.
  • Operates powered industrial handling equipment to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, loading docks, into containers or trucks.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Attaches identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Prepare and wash parts and equipment to be assembled / disassembled.
  • Flexible hours and overtime will be required due to customer and equipment service needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness work areas.
  • Willing to attend training courses either on or off site
  • Maintains accurate records

Qualification/Competencies/Position Requirements:

  • Ability to identify OSHA compliance issues and control hazards.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with operating industrial handling equipment including, but not limited to: overhead cranes, fork trucks and strapping machines.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and inventory software

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.


Physical Demand:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position lifts heavy objects up to 50 lbs., works from heights, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
