Job Title: Maternal Health Training Coordinator (MOSAIC Training & Screening Coordinator)
Reports to: Director of Community Programs
Location: Providence
Status: Full-Time

GENERAL FUNCTION: In partnership with the Department of Health, the main function of the MOSAIC (MOther’S Advocate In the Community) Training and Screening Coordinator (the Coordinator) is to assist in the training and implementation of the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) evidence-based tools and recommendations to screen women of reproductive age for intimate partner violence (IPV) and provide referrals to ongoing support services in order to reduce abuse, depression, and death among expecting and new mothers
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become well versed in the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), the American College of Obstetricians (ACOG), and Gynecologist evidence-based tools and recommendations to screen women of reproductive age for IPV
- Conduct a comprehensive scan of current screening tools and referral pathways and processes for IPV used at WIH, by FV Services, and by other key services/trusted providers treating perinatal people (i.e., prenatal care providers, doulas, WIC staff, early intervention staff, community health workers)
- Make and assist with implementing recommendations to better coordinate these tools, pathways, and processes with a focus on enhancing homicide risk assessment.
- Offer trainings to providers regarding ways to optimize and/or enact standardized, evidence-based IPV screening, inclusive of homicide risk, along with referral protocols that support increased disclosure and connection to services among perinatal patients.
- Work alongside the other MOSAIC staff to conduct IPV screening among expectant and new mothers who are patients at Women and Infant hospitals.
- Provide direct advocacy support, referrals, and interventions to new and expectant mothers who are identified as high-risk at W&I Hospital.
- Apply lethality assessment to high-risk cases of IPV, as identified by the MOSAIC Intervention Coordinator, and make appropriate referrals to the Critical Case Review Committee
- Participate in the Critical Case Review Committee meetings as needed
- Provide technical assistance to community partners to ensure that clients are appropriately screened for DV/SA and referred for follow-up services
- Build and maintain relationships with organizations and assist with ongoing outreach efforts to under-represented groups (including expecting and new mothers in the refugee population, undocumented victims, clients in recovery, etc.)
- Participate in the monthly and quarterly RMVMRI (Reduce Maternal Violence and Mortality RI) community-based advisory committee meetings
- Collect monthly survey data
- Coordinate and provide training and presentations to community partners about the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and Sojourner House’s services
- Generate quarterly grant reports for funders
- Participate in the program evaluation process with the MOSAIC team
- Provide assistance with the Sojourner House hotline, and provide support and referrals to clients who are in crisis or seeking resources
- Other related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- A minimum of two to three years experience in human or social services;
- Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently (both written and oral) is a bonus but NOT required;
- Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or gender-based violence issues;
- A minimum of one to two years experience developing and delivering community presentations;
- Have a familiarity with social service services in Rhode Island;
- Have familiarity working with individuals of different cultures and backgrounds;
- Have a demonstrated familiarity with underserved populations;
- Must be organized and detail-oriented;
- Be computer literate (Word, Excel, and general Internet skills);
- Possess the ability to lift 25 pounds;
- Have comfort working individually and in teams;
- Have the ability to work an irregular work schedule (subject to change), including an evening shift during the week;
- Applicant must pass a background check.
- Applicant must have reliable access to a vehicle.
