SYLVAN LEARNING CENTER ( K-12 TUTORING/EDUCATION)

The Sylvan Learning Centers of Los Angeles are looking for ENTHUSIASTIC, HAPPY, FLEXIBLE TEAM PLAYERS WHO LOVE WORKING WITH KIDS.

We specialize in providing personalized 3:1 instruction to students grades K through 12th grade in the following subjects: READING, Math, Study Skills, Writing, and SAT/ACT Prep.

We are seeking part-time experienced teachers/tutors in one or more of the academic subjects listed who...
-Hold a bachelor's degree and teaching certificate -or- are a college junior/senior working towards your degree in Math or Education
  • Are able to work with kids of all ages
  • Have the ability to multitask
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Have a reliable form of transportation

No lesson planning, grading, or parent meetings.....we do all of that! Do what you love to do - teach kids!

We are looking for a commitment for two to four evenings per week and some Saturday mornings. Instructional Hours: Monday - Friday 1:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Saturdays 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (2 or 4 hours per day depending on your availability) Summer morning hours coming soon!

  • Our student-to-teacher ratio ranges from 1:1 to 3:1.
  • We provide paid training.
  • Afternoon/evening and weekend hours available.
  • The curriculum is already developed for you.
  • No work to take home or parent-teacher conferences...we take care of all of that for you.

How it works: you will give us your hours of availability and we will match them with our needs.

  • Teach students in a 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 student-teacher ratio

We believe in keeping our staff, students, and community safe. We have the following CDC protocols and have put safety measures in place.

    • In-Center instruction and conferences are by appointment ONLY.
    • We are limiting the capacity in our center to 50%
    • We have made changes to the Floor Plan to promote social distancing.
    • Students at each table are 6 feet (or more) apart.
    • Social distancing is mandatory during breaks.
    • All students and staff are temperature checked and must wash their hands before their sessions.
    • All students must wear a mask.
    • All tables and iPads are sanitized between sessions.
    • Guidelines for safety are posted in the Center.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree, Teaching Credential or CBEST, and experience and expertise in teaching Special Education or Early Literacy.

Starting Pay Range $15.00 - $16.50
