POSITION: Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanic assists the Lead Mechanic in repair, maintenance and readiness of all equipment, including all light duty trucks, as needed. This position will assist with the tracking of all equipment at facility and out on job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Abides by all Fortis Energy Services safety and operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the health of all of Fortis’ equipment in the Rocky Mountain region, reporting to Management as required
  • Acts as a liaison for the Preventative Maintenance Program providing support to the regional headquarters under the direction of the Mechanic
  • Assist the Mechanic with E-Maint software including asset information, work orders, PM orders, inventory levels, certifications, and related
  • Work with the Lead Mechanic to ensure PM orders are being completed timely and documented within the system
  • Work with the Lead Mechanic to ensure equipment is being repaired or modified properly but also documenting the repair in a work order
  • Work with safety department to ensure compliance of all equipment relating to monthly, quarterly, or annual audit complying with legal and industry standards
  • Coordinate with accounting department to have appropriate inventory levels within the regional office. This includes using approved vendors and managing the inventory to ensure proper control of funds
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly, or annual equipment inspections, ensuring compliance with all legal and industry standards
  • Maintain complete records of all company assets including titles, registration, inspections, certifications, pictures, etc.
  • Help Operations manage equipment entering the yard, leaving the yard, and during its life cycle
  • Assist the marketing department to ensure all equipment is properly branded and consistently promotes the Fortis brand image
  • Create equipment failure analysis reports that are distributed to everyone, along with action items as follow through
  • Responsible for all light, medium and heavy duty equipment fleet including:
    • Routine mechanical work
    • Cleanliness of the inside and outside of the vehicle
    • GPS installation and deactivation
    • Inspect and maintains light duty trucks and tools to diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs and damages to ensure they are working properly
    • Document and report all equipment movement
    • Test and maintain light duty trucks for readiness
    • Ensure that light duty trucks returning from jobsites are washed, and that tools have been cleaned and tested, when needed.
    • Maintenance and repair of heavy duty equipment including, but not limited to, service rigs, cat walks, mud pumps, power swivels, etc
  • Document the daily work assignments and records the work performed to ensure the shop is running as efficiently as possible
  • Deliver parts to sites, as required by Lead Mechanic
  • Prepare time reports and other records
  • Communicate with both office staff and all levels of management
  • Determine appropriate action beyond guidelines
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions
  • Uses equipment and materials properly
  • Ensures the shop and yard are kept clean and organized
  • Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills utilizing various programs in Microsoft Office Suite; must possess ability to learn company or industry specific applications.
  • Must be able to occasionally work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Familiar with tools and equipment utilized by Fortis Energy Services.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Oil and Gas experience advantageous
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred
  • Computer experience required; proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with machine repair and maintenance
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment testing per company policy.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSES:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Depending on business needs, certain locations may require a CDL
  • SafeLand
  • Other industry certifications preferred
