IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician at the NCA2 Power Plant located in Las Vegas, NV. NCA2 is a 3 X 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant with an 85 MW rating.

Job Functions
- Maintain and continuously advance individual’s plant knowledge, both theoretical and practical.
- Candidate must seek new and improved ways to perform their daily job duties.
- Must have a strong desire to learn.
- Work with a computerized Maintenance Management System to generate and perform work from lists.
- Acts on developing trends, out of specifications, alarms and plant upsets immediately keeping the Shift Supervisor informed of all plant conditions.
- Assist in updating and developing plant procedures to include lessons learned and best practices.
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on all plant systems.
- Responds to plant alarms with designated supervision to learn appropriate corrective action.
- Maintains plant compliance with state and federal permitting requirements, complete all daily, monthly, or annual reporting per requirements.
- Performs maintenance tasks as necessary (i.e., repair or replace worn or broken parts and equipment).
- Maintains an inventory of tools, parts, fluids, and other supplies for plant operations.
- Research parts needed for projects, obtain quotes, and create requisitions for material and supplies as required
- Assists other Company facilities as directed by management.
- Start-up, operate, shutdown and secure equipment under normal and emergency conditions (Become a qualified operator)
- Supervise, coordinate, or assist contractors performing work at the facility.
- Plan and oversee forced and scheduled outages.
- Develop 1,3- and 5-year outage projects and manage projects to completion.
- Maintain shop and location where work is performed in a neat and orderly condition.
- Assist in the implementation and upkeep on the overall preventative maintenance and spare parts inventory tracking system.
Education and Experience An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Desire and drive to learn, improve, and advance.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Power Plant with Gas Turbine experience desirable.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.
- Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
- Previous experience with gas turbines preferred.
- Must have a positive attitude and work well with everyone.
- Demonstrate the ability to use lathe, milling machine, power tools, torches, welders, and hand tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to use micrometer, dial indicator, laser alignment and vibration analyzer.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret instructions and complete assignments independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment.
- Must possess ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system to complete assigned tasks.
- Must possess an in-depth working knowledge of dual fuel gas turbines.
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
- Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
- Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
- Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
- Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
- Must be able to replace mechanical seals.
Work Environment Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Requires working extended hours, with weekend and holiday work as required by workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
- Includes working both indoors and out.
- Includes working with high temperature liquid and high voltage equipment.

- Physical requirements include working on feet for 8-hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
- Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Must pass a pulmonary function test and wear a respirator
