Job description
In November 2013 four Kansas City-area obstetrics and gynecology practice groups merged to form Mid America Physician Services LLC to create an independent physician-owned practice of more than 30 physicians.
Women’s Clinic of Johnson County began as a single OB/Gyn doctor delivering at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in 1992. We grew steadily, adding one physician at a time. Our current practice now consists of ten physicians and four nurse practitioners certified in Women’s Health delivering at two hospitals: AdventHealth Shawnee Mission (formerly Shawnee Mission Medical Center) and Olathe Medical Center. We believe that the doctor/patient relationship is the foundation of good care. We involve the patient in their care, following evidenced-based guidelines formulated by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and provide this in a comfortable environment. We are passionate about providing the best possible, cost-effective care that results in the greatest patient satisfaction.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a full time Appointment Scheduler.
Our Appointment Scheduler will bring a caring customer service approach by greeting patients. This requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment similar to a call center by answering high volume patient calls, interpreting needs and resolving them promptly and thoroughly. Will be responsible for answering phone calls, scheduling appropriate appointments and providing excellent customer service by making sure the patient’s needs are met during every interaction.
What you will do:
- Ensures WCJC makes a positive and professional impact on all patients.
- Assist patients and referring providers with appointment scheduling by handling all incoming telephone calls from patients to make appointments and answers general questions and inquiries within a call center environment.
- Explains all current fees and patient financial responsibility and informs patients of payment required for existing balances due at or before the next appointment.
- Uses computer systems to accurately enter patient demographics and other personal patient information; Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' appointments
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality adhering to all HIPPA compliance regulations.
- Accommodates all scheduling requests
- Provides the patient with available time slots
- Provides critical information to patients to ensure they are able to locate facilities (address, directions, points of reference, proper entrance, etc.)
- Communicates all add-ons, delays, cancellations, and no-shows to appropriate team members
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned/necessary.
What you will bring:
- Education – High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical scheduling experience in a healthcare call center environment required
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work flow
- Demonstration of flexibility and willingness to work in a changing environment
- Possess excellent telephone and customer service skills
- Advanced Keyboarding Knowledge
- Ability to work with a variety of member tools/applications used to access and document health and insurance information and support member interactions via phone, in-person, chat, email, etc.).
- Demonstration of ability to understand and apply HIPAA regulations and maintains strict confidentiality at all times. Perform other job-related duties as assigned/necessary.
