Position Open: Medical Assistant

MBI is the largest provider of behavioral health services in the Washington, D.C., area. We have a dynamic team of service-driven health professionals dedicated and passionate always to exhibit the highest level of customer service excellence toward MBI's commitment to her consumers.

We provide services to a wide range of District residents, including our most vulnerable children, youth, adults, and families struggling with mental health issues, trauma, addictions, and other complex needs. In addition, MBI is integrating to providing health care services to the 'whole person' and opening a 24-hour Urgent Care Center in the District.

The mission of MBI Health Services LLC is to offer steps toward empowerment for individuals, families, and communities by providing innovative, culturally competent, person-centered integrative quality care and services.

MBI has an outstanding opportunity for a skilled, organized, positive, and energetic professional with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. We seek a qualified Medical Assistant to become a part of our clinical team at our newly Urgent Care Center scheduled to open in September 2021.

The candidate will possess proven experience working with a diverse patient population, be familiar with working in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations, and complete assigned tasks under stressful conditions to perform each essential function successfully. Candidate will perform a combination of various administrative and clinical tasks to include:

Essential Functions:

  • Greeting patients as they arrive
  • Gather contact information and insurance data
  • Answering phone calls, respond to patient questions, take messages and reply to emails.
  • File insurance forms and call insurance companies with questions about coverage
  • Scheduling new and follow-up appointments
  • Updating and filing patients medical records
  • Prepare rooms and ensure supplies are ready, ordering more when necessary
  • Assist in procedures and examinations
  • Performs clinical duties to include taking patient medical histories, take and record patient vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during examinations.

Requirements and Qualifications

Associate degree in a medical field (preferred)

1+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital

Familiar with medical terminology

Inventory management experience

Excellent communication and organizational skills

It is MBI Health Services policy to comply to D.C. Mayor Bowser's order issued on August 10, 2021, that all DC employees and DC Contract/Grant Agencies must get vaccinated.
