Banyan Treatment Centers is currently recruiting for a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team in Cathedral City, California!

Schedules Available:

  • 12 hours shifts
  • Night shift availability is strongly preferred.

Pay range:

  • $19-25/hour
  • Plus $2 shift differential for hours worked from 10pm to 6am

The Medical Assistant assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates levels of patient care. They provide for the medical care of community patients, and maintain the medical aspects of the community patient care unit.
Essential Functions:

  • To supervise patients completing the Detoxification Program with emphasis on patient safety and well being.
  • To remind patients of program rules and regulations as necessary and report infractions appropriately.
  • Label community charts.
  • To review charts to ensure that MARs in accordance with the physician’s orders.
  • To provide emotional support for patients while referring them to therapy staff to deal with clinical issues.
  • To inform medical/therapy staff of developments as appropriate.
  • Order medications from the pharmacy.
  • Supervise the self-administration of medication to verify compliance with the physician’s orders.
  • Schedule appointments for physician on property and at local office.
  • To knowledge, report and properly document all accidents, incidents, errors/omissions.
  • Maintain adequate supply of forms and supplies.
  • Assist ARNP with any requests.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, safe and in compliance at all times.
  • To complete all assigned paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with Lab paperwork.
  • Liaison between doctor, nurse, and patients with any anticipated problems or patient refusal of medication, suicidal ideation, medical emergencies, etc.
  • To exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage patient behavior.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with Substance Abuse clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Supervise patient preparations for discharge (packing, turning in keys, room inspection, etc.) in a competent, professional manner.
  • Communicates all pertinent care information to the Charge Nurse, Asst. Dir. Of Nursing and Dir. of Nursing
  • Record patient behavior, problems, and issues in communication log in a timely, legible, and helpful manner.
  • Communicates general environmental observations and issues to Asst. Dir. Of Nursing, Director of Nursing
  • Test for COVID019 according to company policy

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant Program.
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant in the state of CA.
  • Work experience in the field of behavioral/mental health, preferred.
  • CPR certified.
