Job description
The Medical Assistant will assist in client's drug and alcohol compliance program by collecting urine drug specimens and performing breath alcohol testing.

Drug and alcohol collections are scheduled for pre-hire employees and pre-selected randomized program participants.

Medical assistants acting as collectors will have clinical support from the nurse manager and consulting medical director.

Work Schedule:
Monthly, as needed, onsite at the Monroe, NC facility. A minimum of four (4) hours is scheduled per each assignment. Typically, 4 hours/week.

Flexibility is required but possible to schedule in advance.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing such as vital signs and drug and alcohol testing
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing as per company policy and DOT/FAA regulations, as applicable strength, etc.) within the scope of practice
  • Calibrates medical equipment to ensure compliance

Education and Experience:
  • CMA certification
  • First-Aid CPR & AED certifications
  • Certified in DOT Drug and Alcohol testing

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Strong critical thinking skills; problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to create and edit written materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and clients.

  • Ability to meet and exceed daily and weekly individual performance goals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as assist other team members when needed.
  • Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.

Computer Skills:
  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

Physical Demands:
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
  • Some bending and stretching could be required.
  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
  • Manual dexterity is required for use of a computer keyboard.
  • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment:
  • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
