Purpose of Role
The Medical Billing Collector is responsible for collections of outstanding accounts receivable dollars from the existing base and all other collections resolving customer billing problems and reducing accounts receivable delinquency. This position will assist the department in any administrative office needs, and report to the Billing and Collections Office Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

• Calling Reimbursement Solutions (RS) clients’ patients with a past balance to collect.
• Negotiating secured payment plans for patients who cannot pay balance in full
• Setting payment plans in QRS and USPay.
• Answer general billing questions for patients
• Posting payments in QRS, and General account maintenance
• Skip tracing return mail
• Determining which accounts qualifies to go to an outside collection agency
• Writing balances off to a collection agency

Professional Experience, Essential Skills, and Knowledge

• 2 years of High Volume corporate Collections experience, with a large customer base
• Experience in a Behavioral Health environment is preferred but not required
• Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus
• Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures, proven track record of success in collections
• Strong attention to detail, goal oriented, Strong follow up skills
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Strong ability to negotiate with insurance carriers
• Expertise in deciphering Explanation of Benefits (EOB's)
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and keep claims aging report to a minimum
