We are currently seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team at JISF! The Medical Billing Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment and assist our practice in the care of patients within our facilities. Some responsibilities of this position include:

• Handling all correspondence related to an insurance account, contacting insurance carriers, patients, and other facilities as needed to get maximum payment on accounts.
• Identify issues or changes to achieve client profitability.
• Responsible for claim rejection reports.
• Ability to research and resolve accounts appearing on Delinquent Insurance and Collection Reports as directed by management.
• Making appropriate decisions on accounts to be worked to maximize reimbursement.
• Follow up on outstanding insurance A/R of all medical payers and the resolution of denials.
• Verify accuracy of billing data, correcting any errors
• Other Billing Department functions as needed

Requirements: If you are a person who:

• Has a previous EHR computer experience – Athena/Centricity (not required but definitely a plus!)
• Has excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Has ability to quickly build a rapport with patients and coworkers
• Possesses excellent organizational and time management skills
• Has ability to problem solve as they arise
• Is proficient in Microsoft office Suite
• Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT coding and proper use of modifiers
• Is a self-starter and has ability to work independently

Education/Experience Requirement:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years previous medical billing experience (highly preferred)
