The responsibilities of the Medical Director-LCDS are to be performed on a full time basis and are designed to provide clinical leadership, direction, and coordination in the provision of patient/client medical care and physician services and supporting the Chief Medical Officer in long-range strategic planning and in the Quality Performance Improvement program. The Senior Medical Director acts as a liaison between Administration and the medical staff and assumes responsibility for all applicable Federal, State, and City regulations for the department.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- · Develops and reviews all medical policies related to patient care. Assists other clinical departments in the development, implementation, and monitoring of patient care policies.
- · Attends applicable leadership meetings and will lead particular items in the clinical providers group which establishes and reviews clinical policies and practice standards.
- · Supports agency compliance with the creation and implementation of policies and procedures, helping to ensure that services are consistent with the evidence based standards set by various accrediting and governmental review organizations.
- · Leads monthly meetings with the staff and providers and contributes to the planning and execution of quarterly and annual all-staff meetings.
- · Helps in coordinating provider scheduling, coverage, evaluation and training.
- · Contributes in provider and medical staff recruitment at the specific site. May help conduct initial and annual performance evaluations.
- · Provides clinical service consistent with job description for specialty (pediatrician/family practitioner/internist).
- · Responsible for promoting and fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and excellence among staff.
- · Participates in the preparation for regulatory agency site visits.
- · Develops and implements monitoring activities, which will ensure the appropriate maintenance of clinical records.
- · Reviews all accident/incidents related to patient/client care and provides input into the actions necessary to resolve identified problems. Implements corrective actions as necessary and appropriate.
- · Ensures physician participation in the Interdisciplinary Care Planning process.
- · Coordinates all aspects of the medical care provided to the patients/clients of the facility with the physician, nursing, social services, and other members of the Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Care Planning Team.
- · Actively participates in all committees to which she/he is assigned, including QI committee.
- · Ensures compliance of all members of the medical staff to the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the Medical Department. Assures medical staff compliance with all applicable policies and procedures of the facility and initiates action in cases of non-compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- · Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited school.
- · Successful completion of a residency program.
- · Current and unrestricted NYS License and registration as a physician.
- · Admitting privilege to at least one geographically accessible acute care hospital.
- · Clinical experience (minimum of 5 years preferred) practicing primary care, preferably in a community health center serving culturally diverse and under-served patient populations.
- · Board Certified/Board Eligible.
- · DEA required
- · Experience in the development and management of quality, risk and utilization review processes.
- · Culturally aware and sensitive to the special needs of this population.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $200,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
