Medical Secretary/Receptionist
Job description
The Medical Secretary/Receptionist provides excellent customer service to patients and families as front line support for the practice. The duties also include clerical responsibilities that provide support to the operations of the practice.
Requirements:- Answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate staff.
- Performs pre-visit planning: Schedules, confirms appointments, and performs follow up on missed appointments.
- Greets patients and visitors, verifies demographic, and insurance information, and selects appointment status in EMR.
- Operates office equipment such as voicemail messaging system, copier, fax machine, computer. Able to use computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications to prepare patient statements, letters, and maintain medical records. Communicates through use of email and performs internet data searches.
- Receives and routes messages and documents such as specialist reports, laboratory results, hospital records and other correspondence to appropriate staff, both paper and through the EMR.
- Compiles information and maintains patient record in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, email, or fax, EMR.
- Works collaboratively with care team: Provides nurses, providers, and managers assistance and anticipates needs. Participates on care teams and quality improvement initiatives based on the needs of the Practice.
- Customer Service: Maintains effective communication to foster a service attitude and to cooperatively provide the highest quality service to the community. Assures that patients perceive our value through an environment of mutual confidence, trust, high ethics, and respect.
- Other duties may be assigned: All the duties and standards of this position will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and the facility.
