Responsibilities
The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for processing applications from practitioners for Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional membership, using knowledge and judgment regarding the medical staff bylaws, privileging criteria, and regulatory agency requirements. Based upon knowledge of credentialing policies and procedures, updates physician data base and collaborates with personnel in other departments as well as physicians and allied health professionals. Provides secretarial support for the Medical Staff Office. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Bernardine Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support St. Bernardine Medical Center's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Two years experience in Physician credentialing in a hospital, clinic, health maintenance organization (HMO), OR insurance company.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office package. Must possess superior office skills including accurate typing, attention to detail, ability to take accurate minutes and excellent organizational skills.
- Able to deal professionally, effectively and tactfully with all levels of hospital personnel, Medical Staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality of information. Ability to function well within a team and independently.
- Prefer knowledge of accreditation standards of TJC and/or NCQA
- Work effectively under pressure and time constraints.
- Effectively handle a diversity of assignment.
- CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) certification by the National Associate of Medical Staff Services preferred or CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Staff Management) preferred.
- College courses or degree in Business preferred
- Prefer experience of using Visual Cactus, Credentialing software
