Medical Records Clerk

The Citadel of Bourbonnais is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to join our team. A Medical Records Clerk maintains residents’ medical records and health information systems in accordance with current federal and state guidelines and our facility’s established privacy policies and procedures.

Medical Records Clerk Essential Job Functions:

• Receives and flows work schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.
• Assists in organizing, planning and directing the medical records department in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel to assure that medical records can be properly maintained.
• Files information such as nurses’ notes, resident assessments, progress notes, laboratory reports, x-ray results, correspondence, etc., into resident charts.
• Maintains a record of authorized information releases from charts/records, i.e., type information, name of recipient, date, department, etc.
• Retrieves medical records when requested by authorized personnel (i.e., physicians, nurses, government agencies and personnel, etc.)
• Picks up and delivers resident medical records from wards, nurses’ station, and other designated areas as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a CNA certificate
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, coding, indexing, etc., preferred but not necessary
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID 19
