Melt Shop Supervisor

As we continue to grow, we have an immediate need for a Melt/Cast Supervisor. The Melt/Cast Supervisor will supervise production employees working in the Furnace Area of our Melt Shop.

Duties

Melters’ duties require a high degree of engagement with a process that requires frequent adjustment to variables that control the production and success of a complex operation. Calculating alloy additions, temperature gains and losses, understands preheating requirements, equipment operation and maintenance, and can adjust timing to achieve maximum production within the parameters at hand.

Melters are task with addressing any Safety issues that may arise to assure the safety of all employees. Watching the process and identifying underlying problems that could result in an injury are part of this job. Taking charge of Safety, from giving daily toolbox talks to documenting safety training are involved.

Requirements

The successful candidate must be highly motivated, have excellent people skills, strong math and mechanical abilities, and the energy to excel. We seek someone with the ability and willingness to work right alongside your bargaining unit workforce and motivate them to top performance. The following backgrounds would be helpful for this job: (1) Someone who has grown up on a farm; or (2) Someone who began their career working production or maintenance and risen into management; (3) Someone who works as a production lead. A background with mechanical engineering studies combined with experience doing hands on work is a plus; (4) Someone with Melt Shop experience is a strong plus. We are especially interested in production supervisors with EAF melting and continuous caster operations experience. You need to be willing and able to work in hot and cold environments and do occasional heavy lifting.
