VMware Cloud Director Service (CDS) is a leading cloud service-delivery platform used by some of the world’s most popular cloud providers to operate and manage cloud-service businesses. CDS, as a SaaS platform, enables Cloud Providers to leverage VMware Cloud Infrastructure to deliver asset-light, customer centric, highly scalable Multi-Cloud offering to their customers.

The Hyperscalers Integration Team, one of the CDS teams, is looking for a software engineer to join us! This team is responsible for understanding the hyperscalers and establishing communication between Cloud Director Service and the multi-cloud infrastructures. The Hyperscalers Integration Team has recently enabled the expansion of CDS to Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) in addition to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• You will become proficient with VMware Cloud Director Service and the SaaS delivery process.
• You will write high quality code.
• You will be part of an agile team.
• You will work primarily on the Java backend, though there may be some opportunity to work with the Angular frontend if interested.
• You will use version control and review tools.
• You will create unit and/or system tests covering the code you write.
• You will be involved in all phases of the service development lifecycle including DevOps, based on an agile development methodology.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As part of the VMware Cloud Director Service Team, you will:

• Feel comfortable writing software in one or more programming languages, preferably Java
• Collaborate and work effectively with a highly skilled, geographically distributed team.
• Design, implement and deliver complex cloud solutions with a great degree of agility and high quality-assurance standards.
• Participate and influence code reviews, design reviews for robust and scalable products
• Provide feedback and improve technical documents. Build and present technical presentations to internal teams and partners

The technical experience in your background which may help your success in this new role include:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree or in Computer Science or equivalent
• Working knowledge of Java and REST APIs
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills and executive presence along with a passion for collaborative development with an absolute focus on quality and operational efficiency

Where is this role located?

Many Hyperscalers Integration team members are located in the Boston-area, but this role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.
