Job description

Under the direction/supervision of the Membership Coordinator, the Membership Representative will focus primarily on meeting the needs of museum members through excellent customer service; providing information/assistance; and selling/renewing memberships. The Membership Representative is also responsible for welcoming visitors, answering questions they may have, and informing visitors of membership opportunities. This position may also be cross-trained on processing VC memberships using the database (Altru) in the Membership office.

RESPONSIBILITES:
Membership:
A1. Renew memberships for current, lapsed and rejoining members.

A2. Sell new memberships to visitors.

A3. Process membership dues payments in the Altru point-of-sale system.

A4. Maintain and replenish Business Members brochure racks.

A5. Stock Visitor Center membership area with necessary supplies.

Member and Visitor Services:
B1. Welcome members and visitors, and answer questions as needed.

B2. Maintain a welcoming environment in the Visitor Center by:

a. Providing friendly, personal service;

b.Presenting a professional attitude and behaviors;

Keeping the membership area neat, organized, and attractive.

B3. Create a positive experience for all members and visitors by:

a.Taking the initiative to proactively prevent problems;

b. Handling issues creatively, effectively, and courteously.

B4. Offer assistance and cooperation to colleagues whenever possible.

Membership and Institutional Advancement Support:
C1. Process VC memberships using database in Membership office, as needed.

C2. Assist with departmental projects, such as mailings, as needed.

C3. Staff special events as needed.

Adirondack Experience Emergency Contact Back-up:
D1. Keep Membership phone line clear for emergency calls.

D2. Have knowledge and understanding of the Adirondack Experience’s Emergency Procedures. Guidelines will be provided.

D3. Contact emergency services as necessary.

D4. Notify appropriate museum staff.
