Title: Membership Director
Supervisor: Chapter Executive Director
Summary
The principle responsibility of the membership services representative is to manage membership retention, new membership sales, chapter sponsorships, customer service, chapter database, and be the staff liaison to varying committees.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with the Chapter Executive Director and Marketing Director to achieve membership recruitment, engagement and retention goals. This role has significant interaction with staff, members and prospects.
Membership and Customer Service
· Achieve and maintain at least an 85% membership retention percentage annually
· Achieve and maintain at least a 3% overall membership sales growth annually
· Prospecting calls to member prospects who have attended CAI events
· Renewal calls to members whose memberships have expired and/or are about to expire
· Cold call prospecting member prospects
· Communicate membership benefits, programs, and services to members and prospects to enhance recruitment and retention
· Set up Zoom meetings and webinars for committee meetings and educational events
· Develop and maintain membership reports and lists for the CED and Board of Directors
· Assist members and prospects with requests and information as requested
· Work with the Marketing Director to develop and maintain marketing materials
· Supports the overall goals of the chapter by performing duties as assigned
Database Management
· Interface with CAI National to maintain an up-to-date membership database (changes, mistakes, etc.)
· Enter new accounts, renewals, rejoins and cancellations from CAI National reports
· Update changes in information for members and prospects
· Maintain Mail Chimp broadcast email database
· Develop and maintain an active membership prospect list
Chapter Sponsorships
· Work with the Chapter Executive Director to revise and update the chapter sponsorship levels prior to the opening of the annual campaign
· Coordinate with the Marketing Director on the marketing plan such as email blasts prior to the opening of the annual campaign
· Answer questions and provide information to potential sponsors
· Call previous sponsors who are slow to renew their sponsorship and sell them on the benefits of sponsorships
· At a minimum, achieve annual budgeted sponsorship goals
· Update sponsorship information in the database, including recording of payments and generating invoices for payments due.
· Keep updated sponsorship list in AMO, on the chapter website and in the magazine.
Position Requirements
· Minimum of a high school diploma with 2 years of general sales experience required, 2 years of non-profit membership sales experience preferred
· Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Goal oriented and able to successfully work without close supervision.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent, articulate, personable and diplomatic customer service skills
· Possess a positive, team-player attitude
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with a willingness to learn and become competent with customer/event registration software used by the chapter
· Proven project management skills
· Ability to produce professional documents with minimal amount of mistakes; include spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors
· Willingness to adhere to the chapter employee handbook
Local travel is required of this position. Mileage to be paid by the chapter. Additionally, this position requires that the person filling this role be able to learn, utilize and become proficient in the chapter’s membership/event management software, including being able to complete all tasks relating to this position using the software without assistance. Software training shall be provided by the chapter. The chapter maintains technical support for the software and the person in this position is expected to utilize that support as necessary.
