What will you do as a Memory Care Unit Director

  • Develop, coordinate and implement programs and services for residents with cognitive impairment, to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each residents highest level of physical, social and psychological well being.
  • Provide in-services and all continuing education for employees and family members regarding the residents' disease process, behaviors, techniques and approaches.
  • Create a diverse and therapeutic program calendar of events 7 days/week
  • Select, train and coach dedicated staff members; create and maintain staffing schedule
  • Coordinate assessments and ongoing evaluations in conjunction with Care Service
  • Continually evaluate effectiveness of program and demonstrate ability to implement changes as necessary to maximize effectiveness and impact
  • Becomes a community recognized expert and resource related to dementia care and Alzheimer

What you need as a Memory Care Unit Director

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing or therapeutic recreation or equivalent work experience
  • Master's degree strongly preferred
  • At least three - five (3-5) years of healthcare experience
  • At least two (2) years' of geriatric care experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience
  • Expertise in Alzheimer's and related dementias
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Dementia certification
