Job Description

The Metrology Engineer is responsible for developing inspection methods and measurements of molded and purchased parts to ensure conformity to company engineering and quality standards. The Metrology Engineer's primary focus will be serving as the measurement subject matter expert within the entire company.

Schedule and Pay Rate:

1st shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday

Pay Rate: $50,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on your experience

Job Duties

• Provide complex metrology and calibration engineering support to customers and laboratory staff.
• Develop processes and systems in the application of metrology.
• Design and develop measuring processes, methods, and procedures for the calibration of inspection measurement and test equipment and the testing of products and components.
• Perform complex Measurement System Analysis using the principles using the principles of traceability and analysis of accuracy and precision requirements.
• Employ statistics to analyze calibration and testing processes, interprets results, and suggest solutions to problems.
• Provide consultation on metrology issues.
• Design and develop specialized measurement and test equipment.
• Develop and lead the execution of measurement and test equipment capability studies.
• Provide technical training on calibration processes and procedures to technicians and less experienced engineers.

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or related experience in Engineering or related field.
• 1 or more years of Metrology Engineering experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of metrology with understanding of how measurement accuracy and precision impacts the company's ability to make a conformity assessment or process control decisions, the importance of traceability, and the role of calibration in its relationship to the establishment of traceability and quality systems.
• Ability to properly evaluate and interpret engineering models, engineering GD&T intent, and inspection results.
• The ability to conduct measurement data analysis.
• Performance of gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
• Ability to utilize dimensional hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, go/no go gauges, and indicators.
• Ability to inspect dimensional layouts and compare measurement results to specifications to specific components.
• Ability to read and understand detail part and assembly prints.
• Experience using MicroVu or other measurement equipment is a plus.
• AutoCAD, Pro-E, or SolidWorks experience is a plus.
