Description:Lockheed Martin is looking for a Software Deployment Architect for the Military Operations Analysis team of our Aeronautics Business Area. The candidate will work the infrastructure, applications, and services of our software Development Operations (DevOps) as part of the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline on a wide variety of projects.

This team handles complex tasks in the modeling and simulation of Lockheed Martin 21st Century warfighter products for the intricate operational environment. The instruments are tested in complex mission simulators and deployed to battlefields around the world.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable understanding and working with containerization, virtualization, automation and DevOps technologies and infrastructure technologies in the cloud environment within a security attentive infrastructure.
Specific responsibilities expected of the candidate include:
  • Monitoring core infrastructure and investigating issues which impact the availability of these services.
  • Planning and implementing deployment of new infrastructure and services through scripting and automation.
  • Automating the deployment, scaling, and administration of containerized applications.
  • Troubleshooting issues with services.

  • Knowledge of automation and provisioning infrastructure as code (IaC) (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Familiar with containerization develop and utilization (Docker)
  • Knowledge of runtime workloads / orchestrations (Kubernetes, Nomad)
  • Basic experience using cloud services providers - on-prem, hybrid, multi-cloud (AWS, Azure)
  • Comfortable working in a Linux (RedHat UBI) environment and familiarity with writing simple scripts to automate tasks (bash, Python, Go).
  • Use of Git for source version control, continuous integration, and collaboration. (Git, GitLab-ci)
  • Familiar with container/artifact/software registries (Nexus, Artifactory, DockerHub)
  • Knowledge of deployment and maintenance of services on Kubernetes (GKE, EKS).
  • Comfortable working VMWare - desktop and server.
  • A good understanding of network technologies (IP routing, DNS, VPNs).
  • Good communication skills to work across different levels of technical and non-technical users to unlock the three dimensions (people, processes, and tools).
  • Need to have sufficient perseverance to work security approvals with the appropriate stakeholders to define security policies with reasonable services

Applicant must be a US Citizen, as position is located at a facility that requires special access. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of automation and provisioning infrastructure as code (IaC) (Ansible, Terraform)

  • Programming experience with at least one modern software languages such as Python, C++, Java and/or C# including object-oriented language (min. 2 years of programming experience in place of 4-year degree)
  • Knowledge using variety of cloud services providers
  • Must have active Top Secret clearance
Desired Skills:
  • Experienced developing and deploying software on cloud-based platforms (eg. Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Ansible)
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with successfully implementing containerization especially within constraints of government security policies approvals
  • GovCloud or security policies with logical services approval experience bonus
  • Knowledge of military aircraft, missions, and operations
  • Understanding of flight simulations, radar and or weapons systems
  • Bachelors or above degree from an accredited college in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or closely related technical field
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Top Secret with an investigation within 6 years

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
