Ministry Involvement Coordinator
Job description
GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for implementing the strategy to educate, inspire and direct members to discover their spiritual gifts and use them in ministry at Eastern Star Church and in the community. This position will also manage the ShelbyNext membership database, coordinate membership campaigns, and implement and evaluate life event services for membership including Baby Dedication, Baptism, Communion, Weddings, and Funerals across all campuses as well as online.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate membership information; Record new member information; Develop & evaluate strategies to collect membership information updates; Evaluate database content & efficiency; Coordinate with the Finance Department and tithing envelope vendor to maintain accurate records regarding giving methods; Coordinate with tithing envelope vendor to maintain supply of envelopes; Contact Finance Department to update member giving methods.
- Develop and implement processes to report membership information to staff and member; Provide membership verification reports to members; Generate information reports to staff around their specific needs; Coordinate with ministry leaders and staff to collect accurate information about member ministry participation; Develop a system of maintaining an organized hard copy record of membership information
- Attend staff meetings and strategic planning sessions contributing and providing appropriate reports and information as requested; Prepare oral and written reports as requested; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community representatives and vendors; Work as a member of a department with willingness to cross-train certain team functions.
- Knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing and spreadsheets. Ability to operate personal computer, calculator, copy and fax machine, phone, mobile or portable radio and automobile.
- Lead and develop ministry(s) as assigned
- Coordinate, evaluate, promote and implement ways for the congregation to become aware of the ministry involvement process and ministry opportunities (i.e. ministry fairs)
- Coordinate opportunities for membership to learn about their spiritual gifts through classes offered on campus and on line
- Create, evaluate, and implement a system to follow up with new members and inactive members
- Develop an effective work plan that prioritizes and outlines outcomes and timelines for effective member communications and member life event services
- Coordinate with Communications staff for publication of brochures, calendars, etc. and related communications to help explain and promote our Christian education direction.
- Recruit, interview, and place applicants for volunteer work. Host recruiting events and ministry fairs.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance for ministry workers
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with administration, supervisor, staff, volunteers, congregation, and the community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups. Ability to effectively read, interpret and present information to top management, the congregation, volunteers, and the community.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and data furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop outcomes.
- A Valid Indiana Driver’s License is required
