The Choices Mobile Crisis Response Team is responsible for 24/7 mobile emergency responses for individuals experiencing an emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health crisis in Morgan, Johnson or Shelby Indiana Counties. The Mobile Crisis Responder (MCR) is a full-time position (40 hours/week) operating during scheduled shifts based on a fire house model. The MCR operates from a strengths-based perspective, collaborating with Choices’ Crisis Team, clinical leadership, and peer responders. The MCR will work within a culture of crisis prevention, making every effort to ensure individuals are effectively stabilized within their home and community whenever possible. The MCR will ensure appropriate follow-up with individuals after a crisis assessment and linkage to ongoing supports and services, operating in an enhanced localized crisis response system contributing to the goal of increased community stabilization. The MCR is highly enthusiastic, and mission driven to provide the best services possible. The incumbent will support and uphold a commitment to racial and ethnic equity and antiracism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Can articulate the mission, vision and practices of the local mobile crisis response system for individuals served.
  • Communicates the practice expectations of the mobile crisis response system to individuals served, community partners, and funders.
  • Responds to crisis referrals promptly during scheduled shifts.
  • Provides back up when requested/as available if contacted by the Team Manager when not scheduled.
  • Adheres to the policies and protocols established by Choices for the management of a 24/7 mobile crisis response system.
  • Incorporates the guiding principles and values of Systems of Care into their interactions with individuals served, fellow team members, Choices staff and system partners.
  • Communicates effectively with leadership to ensure collaborative efforts and proactive response to issues and concerns.
  • Follows established strategic plans and quality improvement procedures to achieve stated goals and enhance individuals’ experience with Mobile Crisis Response Services.
  • Ensures collection of all necessary service data.
  • Participates in scheduled meetings to review performance and quality indicators and makes recommended adjustments to improve the response and stabilization service.
  • Willingly completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of the Choices Mobile Crisis Response Team.

Qualifications

  • Has a minimum of a Master’s degree with a license in social work/psychology or other counseling fields. (Clinical License Preferred)
  • Maintains active license per respective professional license board.
  • Demonstrated skills in assessment tools, crisis intervention, team building and development.
  • Strong communication and writing skills. Bi-lingual skills (Spanish) a plus.
  • Highly organized, and effectively manages multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Professionally articulate in communicating (oral and written) system development, change and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated professionalism working in teams with internal colleagues and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance.
  • Able to work shifts that include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
