POSITION SUMMARY:
Mobile Crisis Management involves all support, services, and treatments necessary to provide integrated crisis response, crisis stabilization interventions and crisis prevention activities. This position to assist with the provision of mobile crisis intervention, and stabilization services to a wide variety of individuals having various types of needs, in both community and clinic-based settings. Mobile Crisis Services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our crisis response provides timely evaluation, triage and access to acute mental health, developmental disability and/or substance abuse services. Additionally, it provides treatment to ensure symptom and harm reduction and safely guides people in acute crisis to appropriate crisis intervention/stabilization and detoxification support/services. These services include immediate telephone response to assess the crisis and determine the risk, mental status, medical stability and appropriate response.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Triages and/or responds to requests for crisis intervention/crisis stabilization, in the community. Interventions will be delivered in compliance with Emergency Services Policies and Procedures.
· Works closely with law enforcement to provide support to individuals who may require mental health intervention instead of, or in addition to, law enforcement response.
· Develops and implements effective crisis stabilization plans that are client-centered and support strong therapeutic partnerships with clients and their natural supports.
· Assists in diverting client from more intensive levels of care and maintaining client in their home communities, when appropriate.
· Provides brief case management, to include needs assessment and service referral, in order to ensure client receives appropriate step-down services and/or ongoing treatment.
· Develops and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with community providers.
· Works closely with other agency staff and/or external providers for the purpose of service facilitation.
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation consistent with agency policies and procedures.
· Receives clinical and procedural guidance from the Mobile Crisis Response manager.
· Performs other duties as assigned by Manager which are consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of adult, child & adolescent, and geriatric psychology in mental health and substance abuse areas
· Knowledge of primary models for treatment of these populations.
· Knowledge of appropriate methodologies for assessing client needs
· Knowledge of crisis intervention and stabilization theory and techniques, and their application to individuals in crisis.
· Working knowledge of community systems and resources and, inter-agency networking.
· Some knowledge of voluntary and involuntary admission to state facilities such as local jails or correctional facilities.
ABILITIES:
· Demonstrated ability to assess client needs and develop appropriate initial treatment plans.
· Ability to remain calm and reassuring in crisis situations and to intervene appropriately.
· Ability to assist clients in evaluating and accessing available resources and work effectively with community resources.
· Ability to develop and implement effective crisis stabilization plans.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to accurately prepare and maintain client records and write reports and summaries.
· Ability to exercise professional judgment.
· Ability to work effectively with others as part of a treatment team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant should meet state regulations to qualify as QMHP-A, QMHP-C, CSAC-A including a bachelor’s degree earned from an accredited college or university in a relevant field with professional, clinical experience in the provision of crisis intervention or a combination of bachelor’s degree in unrelated, training, and experience indicating the possession of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities; and must be able to provide own transportation as necessary. Must have a minimum of one (2) years’ experience in providing crisis intervention/stabilization. Must be available 24/7 to respond in emergent or urgent situations.
