CompuNet Clinical Laboratories, as a subsidiary of Premier Health, implemented the requirement that all employees as a condition of both initial and continued employment must receive vaccination against COVID-19, or complete policy compliance through an approved medical or religious exemption. These requirements must by met as a condition of hire. Failure to do so will result in a delayed start or withdrawal of employment offer.

Position Summary:
Phlebotomist travels to Long-Term Care Facilities (LTC) and other offsite collection facilities to collect and process specimens for testing. All while practicing prompt and courteous customer service. The LTC phlebotomist is expected to “float” between long-term care facilities to provide quality phlebotomy skills and specimen processing at each facility depending on need. The Mobile phlebotomist may also be required to collect and process for other off-site events. Individual must have the ability to positively interact with facility staff as well as with patients.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Perform all phlebotomy (venipunctures and capillary punctures)/processing duties as outlined in the departmental procedure manual.
  • Follow proper procedures for patient identification and labeling of laboratory specimens.
  • Process specimens to maintain specimen integrity for specimen transport to testing facility.
  • Perform training responsibilities if needed.
  • Operate and maintain departmental equipment, including but not limited to, computers and printers.
  • Correctly read, collect, and receive all laboratory tests ordered.
  • Complete training when new procedures are introduced, or current procedures are changed.
  • Comply with all LTC and other facility, departmental, company, safety and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Perform all duties according to CompuNet’s behavioral standards, demonstrating positive customer service principles to patients and coworkers at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete annual competency assessment requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Must be high school graduate or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy experience or training in phlebotomy required
  • Experience working in long-term care setting is a plus
  • Healthcare/laboratory experience required
  • Must demonstrate a strong history of dependability and customer service skills
  • Must have reliable transportation for driving to each facility
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must maintain and show proof of liability automotive insurance
  • Must show proof of COVID and Flu vaccination
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Must be able to walk 5-7 miles per day with minimal periods of rest
  • Must be able to wear any PPE required for the client facility
  • Work independently while collecting an appropriate number of patients per hour relative to experience
  • Work in a high stress environment and handle stressful situations in a calm manner
  • Comprehension of verbal and written directions
  • Concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
  • Communicate effectively with all customers, employees and patients
Safety demands and requirements:
  • Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations, and promote safety awareness
