Job description

MRI technologist job responsibilities include using magnetic resonance imaging equipment to scan and capture images to aid in patient diagnosis as ordered by a physician. EHS require the ability to closely follow a physician's instructions, appropriately position patients, prepare and operate MRI equipment, and accurately record the images requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work off of and be fluent with Nova Rad
  • Work in add-ons, stats and patient cancellations with a “no problem” attitude.
  • Communicate with Radiologist/Technologist all changes to patient schedule or orders.
  • Follows EHS protocols to ensure complete, accurate and detail patient care.
  • Proactively work the schedule to minimize down time, by calling patients in early.
  • Communicate to patients any delays in their appointment time.
  • Communicate all system issues and incidents to appropriate Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates cost effectiveness in use of supplies and equipment.
  • Adheres to HIPPA requirements. Ensure the security of all Private Health Information (PHI) by following adopted office procedures.
  • Requires ability to multi-task and prioritize. Work well under pressure.
  • Requires ability to demonstrate good judgment and follow all policies as they relate to attendance, dress code, safety, timesheets, reporting procedures and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Treat patients, referring physicians and co-workers in a courteous, respectfully and empathic manner at all times.
  • Remains flexible with patient schedule and other changes in working conditions. May be required to work at different sites or in various capacities.
  • Recognizes when there is a need in other areas of the hospital and readily offers assistance.
  • Completes x-ray in a timely manner and follows proper positioning protocols.
  • Becomes fluent in lab to offer assistance whenever needed.
  • Ensures the room is stocked and ready for next shift.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical record files and notes according to procedures.
  • Request and process previous films and reports for comparison when applicable.
  • Fax preliminary reports as directed by the Radiologist.
  • Provide patients and referring physicians with reports in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare films and “burn” disks in accordance to referring physician and patient requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ARRT R(RT)(MR) • Associates Degree or Certificate from ARRT accredited school.
  • 2 years office experience in Radiology
  • Strong Medical Terminology
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
