Position Summary
The Multifamily Asset Manager will be responsible for setting and implementing strategic, financial, and operational decisions with the objective of maximizing value of our portfolio of value-add and core-plus multifamily assets. This position will be representing the ownership group and working with third party management partners to maximize each asset’s full potential in the areas of revenue generation, net operating income, capital investment planning and asset preservation. This is a dynamic, highly collaborative position working closely with all functional teams including investment, legal, accounting and finance. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of asset management experience with proven leadership skills and an all-in work ethic working well with a sense of urgency and tight time frames. A proven track record of successfully enhancing asset values through creative strategies, strong relationships, and effective leadership will also be crucial to this role. Integrity and authentic communication are paramount to success at Brinkman.
Job Responsibilities
- Help shape (through providing real-time input) the strategic business plan for each acquisition, lead the execution of that business plan, and monitor the property performance against original underwriting.
- Achieve the investment goals and maximize the overall value of the assets, which will require: (1) developing and leading revenue-enhancing and expense control programs and initiatives at the property level, (2) monitoring resident turnover and satisfaction indicators, (3) implementing capital projects that provide an attractive return on investment, and (4) identifying and implementing opportunities to drive operational excellence to enhance value.
- Regularly travel to markets to become an expert on competitive set, market dynamics, and market participants, and to understand and proactively manage operational concerns at the assets. Portfolio includes markets throughout the Intermountain West. Expect approximately 35-45% travel. In coordination with the internal Capital Projects Manager, proactively lead capital improvement projects to achieve project execution while meeting budget and controlling cost.
- In coordination with the onsite property management teams and in-house Capital Projects Manager, complete the annual budgeting process, as well as the long-term capital needs assessments of the assets.
- Oversee cash management and cash planning for improvements and distributions.
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting to investors.
- In conjunction with the finance team, make recommendations for and coordinate information requests related to refinances or supplemental financings
- Monitor market and asset fundamentals in order to provide hold/sell recommendations.
- Communicate and follow up on priorities and expectations with cross-functional teams.
- Proactively strengthen relationships across internal teams, capital partners and deal constituents.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Finance, or Economics. MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of multifamily asset management experience required. Experience in commercial asset management (hotel, office, and retail specifically) a plus.
- Thorough understanding of all factors affecting markets and submarkets and the impact on the portfolio including strong understanding of demand generators, revenue management, and yield strategies to maximize asset returns and performance.
- Exceptional financial acumen with demonstrated ability to understand financing and investment goals.
- Strong financial analysis skills including forecasting and cash flow planning.
- A strong working knowledge and experience with capital improvement project management and value-add strategies is essential.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling techniques.
- Yardi software experience ideal.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to take ownership of projects with high-quality results.
- An ability to embrace and contribute to operational excellence in a fast-growing company with an entrepreneurial and high-performing culture.
