Job Summary:

The National Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for creating and ensuring implementation of nursing and medical care and delivery at Lightfully Behavioral Health (LBH). The DON works closely with medical and clinical leaders to create and implement policies, procedures, protocols, and processes to facilitate medical care, medication management, and safety at LBH. The DON maintains current knowledge of state requirements, OSHA, Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the Joint Commission for Behavioral Health standards and other applicable standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Upholds and maintains the Company, mission, and values (called the Lightfully "Shining Commitments").
  • Ensures efficient and safe operations of the medical services for the facility.
  • Ensures full compliance with all federal and state health and safety regulations and requirements including but not limited to:
    • OSHA
    • CDC
    • State requirements
    • TJC
  • Acts as part of the clinical/medical leadership team in creating and implementing policies and procedures, plans for client care, performance improvement, patient safety and other leadership responsibilities specific to medical services, while ensuring the highest quality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Acts as leader in client safety by working closely with regional leaders for infection control and environmental safety.
  • Collaborates with the compliance department around incident reports, including tracking and analyzing trends.
  • Collaborates with medical and psychiatric partners for each region to create efficient processes for medication management and medical integration.
  • Leads medication management for LBH, including creating and delivering trainings related to observation of self-administration of medication, creating and updating policies and procedures related to medication management, ensuring that staff competencies for medication management are completed by site-level leaders.
  • Collaborates with compliance department for state surveys and Joint Commission accreditation surveys to ensure excellent results.
  • Leads company level campaigns related to infection control (e.g., Flu vaccines, Covid vaccines, hand washing).
  • Ensures medication administration oversight by: assuring proper medication administration practices are followed, assuring informed consents are obtained and documented prior to administering psychotherapeutic medications, reporting adverse drug reactions (ADR) and assuring follow up treatment, accurately counting controlled drugs, assuring discontinued drugs are destroyed per procedure, medication refrigerators are maintained / documented daily, and client drug reactions, refusal, etc. are reporting to the physician in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Specific Skills/Competencies:

  • Extensive experience in treatment of mental health disorders and in reviewing, planning, implementing, and evaluating medical services / therapy to individuals with mental health disorders.
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated skill in working with an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care is provided.
  • Experience in treating both adolescents and adults.
  • Demonstrated experience in assuring compliance with The Joint Commission and state standards and best practices for mental health programs preferred.

General Skills and Requirements:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Able to lift up to twenty pounds.
  • Able to travel to sites up to 25% of the time, and for site compliance surveys.
  • Must have general knowledge of PCs and be proficient in a Windows environment. Requires ability to access and update information in a computer system.

Qualifications:

  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Active, unrestricted RN license in state of CA.
  • 4+ years of related experience, required.

The pay range for this position is $100,000-$159,000 annually.
