SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe N/C Programmer is responsible for providing (3-Axis) and (5-axis) Files and Programs for the manufacture of various forms of tooling to be used in the production of engineering parts or assemblies utilizing Tebis software system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide NC files and programs, methods and technical support to the shop as required
- Review programming requests and blue prints to assist with determining the most efficient and cost effective methods for machining
- Develop tooling solutions, as needed, both cutting tools and fixtures
- Create multi-axis machine programs from customer supplied part models and specifications
- Create process/step planning to route product through in house machining sequences in order to achieve most efficient process to produce our products
- Generate machine set-up sheets and incorporate into shop planning
- Generate fixture and shop aid information for set-ups
- Post process programs and check / verify completed programs
- Reports faulty equipment and has the ability to make difficult decisions and seeks management’s assistance when needed
- Understand the application of Lean Mfg in a tooling environment
- Apply/Implement new technologies (software and hardware) to keep “Best in Class”
- Practice safe working habits and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Any additional duties assigned by management
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
- High school diploma or GED required
- College classes with a focus on programming strongly preferred
- 3-5 years N/C Programming experience desired in tooling/manufacturing environment
- 3 years of experience in all aspects of tooling fabrication and shop practices preferred
- This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required
- Ability to implement, design and execute on projects
- Ability to take the initiative and trouble-shoot and correct process and machine problems
- Ability to effectively handle tasks in a fast paced environment
- Has confidence in leading processes, projects and looks for opportunities
- Ability to work with management team to help drive performance of location
- Proficient with the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP Systems and PowerPoint software
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area circumferences and volume
- Ability to read and understand blueprints including geometric tolerance and understanding of general tolerances and GD&T

- Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation
- May access and work in the manufacturing plant
- The employee may be exposed to vibration
- The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands
- Work with safe manufacturing processes and understanding that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area
- Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
