Job Summary:

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.


The incumbent provides systems administration and configuration management support for data network hardware and software components for the U.S. House of Representatives’ data infrastructure. Incumbent is a technical consultant and contributor on data network systems analysis, integration, implementation, and maintenance projects.


This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. The primary work location for this position is at the Alternate Computing Facility located in the Northern Virginia area. This position may be required to travel between the Alternate Computing Facility, Data Centers and the Capitol’s campus.


This position may require the ability to work shift hours to provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week technical support for the House's information technology infrastructure.


Responsibilities:


  • Duties include day to day router, switch, and server configurations, troubleshooting and support as well as other tasks necessary to support and maintain the House Campus Data Network integrity.

  • Participate as a technical contributor in data network systems analysis, integration, implementation, and maintenance projects.

  • Must be available to provide 24x7 support (on-call emergency support) as required. Performs other official duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Experience with standards-based Local Area Network (LAN) and VoIP technologies.

  • Ability to perform copper and fiber (premise) wiring installations.

  • Must possess the physical ability to lift network equipment weighing 50lbs or less ‘

  • Experience with configuration and support for network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP and EIGRP.

  • Recent and verifiable hands-on experience with configurations, installations, maintenance of networking components such as Cisco IOS and NX-OS based router and switch platforms.

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot routing protocol network issues with in EIGRP, OSPF and BGP environments.

  • Knowledge of Data Center Architectures and Services incorporating Applications, Servers, Storage, and Data Center Switching technologies

  • Experience in a configuring and maintaining Cisco IOS 9400 and 9500 switches, Nexus Platforms 5k – 9k models, 9200 and 2960 series work groups switches, ASRs and other routing hardware.

  • Familiarization with Remedy CTS ticketing application.
