New Product Quality Coordinator | Contract | Winston Salem, NC
Main job objective:
This is a contract position with a probability of extension based on the success of new products introductions and the individual’s behaviors. As a key member of the Quality team, this position reports to the Senior Quality Engineer and will be responsible for supporting all stages of manufacturing from a quality standpoint. This position will focus on New Product Introductions with the goal of ensuring their success using: Lean tools, advanced product quality planning processes (APQP) and effective project management tools.
Success in this role will be accessed based on the smooth and successful launch of new products for key customers (quality and delivery), and the overall improvement and streamlining of the new product introduction process, as well as the reduction of off-quality product waste.
Main responsibilities and Key Result Areas:
· Overseeing new products in the early stages of industrialization (Ramp Up Stage)
· Supporting Pre-Production Trials (PPT) and Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP) in manufacturing.
· Scheduling kick off and sign off meetings
· Ensuring all cross functional stakeholders are present
· Ensuring the required information is available for the meetings
· Ensuring efficient flow of materials in the Ramp -Up stage though the manufacturing process to meet customer orders. Process tracking PPT/PPAP builds, and report on the capabilities.
· Daily and weekly updates on product performance in manufacturing
· Daily and weekly analysis and communication on Other Than First Quality (OTFQ) product levels performance to the respective department managers.
· Developing and executing mitigating plans to ensure the OTFQ is within the set specification.
· Cataloging and defining new defects associated to new designs and updating control plans collaboratively with the process engineer.
· Define new products standards collaboratively with Customer Quality Manager and Process Engineer.
· Provide feedback to the process audit team to ensure the process compliance via audits of critical processes based on current failure modes and trends.
· Working collaboratively with the quality and manufacturing team to develop, train and maintain efficient production flow.
· Participating in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
· Effectively summarizing and communicating new product performance, along with updates to both internal and external leadership teams. Providing a weekly progress report to the Leadership team with an action plan for upcoming deliverables.
Professional qualifications and knowledge:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline. Consideration given to equivalent combination of schooling and practical experience.
· Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience. (Textile manufacturing preferred)
· Demonstrated experience with Lean / Six Sigma (Green or Black belt preferred)
· ISO 9001 experience preferred.
· GMP experience preferred.
· Basic Project Management skills.
· Experience with SAP.
· Microsoft Office proficient.
