Job description
- Assess nutritional needs of patients and develop nutritional plans for patients.
- Screen and assess patients for nutritional risk. Take patient history.
- Explain the diet and food drug interaction instructions.
- Attend meetings with hospital and family members to address patient’s nutritional needs.
- Document nutritional needs and progress in accordance with established procedures.
- Consult with Physician and other healthcare providers regarding dietary needs, progress and offer suggested dietary changes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

BA with course work approved by the academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council required.

Must pass the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Completed courses in methods and principles of nutrition counselling.

No experience required. Prefer individuals that have completed an internship or have some experience in dietetics.

- Being socially perceptive; that is, aware of the reactions of others and understanding those reactions
- Good reading comprehension skills
- Good coordination skills and the ability to adjust one’s actions in relation to others’ actions
- Effective logic, reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Effective writing, speaking and listening skills.

Certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is required.

Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
