NH - RECREATIONAL THERAPEUTIC SPECIALIST
Job description
- Provides T.R. assessment, treatment planning and clinical service delivery, including 1:1 intervention and group work to residents of caseload responsibility. Participates in interdisciplinary care planning.
- Designs individual population-specific clinical Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Education and Recreation Participation programs. Develops the unit program assigned
- Provides 1:1 intervention to residents outside of caseload responsibility, inclusive of crisis intervention, and referral in specialty areas.
- Conducts off unit groups as assigned. Conducts group work to specialized populations as assigned, to the various population subgroups.
- Conducts/participates in large group, community out trips and special events design and delivery as assigned.
- Provides relief coverage for assessment/treatment planning as assigned.
- Provides relief coverage for group work as assigned ,
- Supervises volunteers as assigned.
- Participates in inservice education, as well as orientation of new departmental employees.
- Maintains inventory of recreation supplies, anticipates supply consumption, submits requisitions for program supplies in advance of need.
- Maintains work and storage areas in a neat, clean and safe manner. Maintains all areas in ready to work condition. Ensures all equipment is returned to storage after use,
- Maintains statistical record keeping.
- Prepares monthly calendars, announcements for posting on unit. Maintains unit bulletin boards in public areas in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Provides seasonally appropriate, age specific decorations to enliven dining room and bulletin boards,
- May escort residents to and from activities.
- Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Note: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Expressive Arts Therapy disciplines may be accepted as equivalency.
- Minimum two (2) years full-time experience in a clinical residential setting with any of the populations served by the facility. Internship or Master's coursework may be considered as part of experience requirement.
- Certification by National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification - Professional Level [CTRS]; Note: Expressive Arts Therapist credential may be accepted as equivalency.
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
