Summary : Provide a safe caring environment for all patients, while being cognizant of their individual psychiatric and medical diagnoses. Performs other tasks as assigned. Follows direction/ assignment as given by charge RN.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Report on time for shift, and leave on time.
  • Receive report from the off- going shift.
  • Makes rounds and assists patients for the day/ night shift- routine.
  • Keep patient rooms clean and neat, report housekeeping concerns to housekeeper.
  • Be aware of maintenance issues and report to maintenance department via work- order.
  • Leading groups as scheduled after being trained.
  • Communicate and document group attendance.
  • Report all mood, behavior and medical concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Admit patients by orientating them, inventorying belongings, and helping them feel safe and secure.
  • Discharge patients by checking for inventoried items to be returned. Report any missing items.
  • Take patients to the patio for smoke breaks, and maintain safety and security.
  • Attend staff meetings and in- services to stay informed of staff issues and remain current in required education.
  • Monitor patients as assigned for higher level of observation (1:1, Line of Sight, Q 15) ensuring their safety

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • MANDT Certification, and CPR Certifications within 90 days of hire date.
  • Must speak, read, and write legibly in English.
