Norwescap's AmeriCorps project will dramatically expand the organization's capacity to build the financial empowerment of our participants. Nineteen full-time AmeriCorps members will help Norwescap build on its successful programs by replicating the evidence-based Financial Opportunity Centers model created by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). These members will partner with Norwescap staff to provide employment coaching, financial coaching and case management support to 800 low-to-moderate income residents of northwest New Jersey each year. Expected outcomes include improved financial knowledge, increased job readiness, obtaining new employment and gains in financial well-being as evidenced by net worth and credit scores.



Member Duties : The Employment Coach will meet with each interested participant for a 90, one-on-one coaching session. During this session, the Coach will help the participant assess their current employment situation, identify employment goals, and develop a plan for achieving those goals. This may include resume development, computer skills training, basic education courses, or other job readiness and/or maintenance workshops. The Employment Coach will also conduct a thirty-minute follow-up session with each participant once a month for the five months following the initial session to assess progress toward goals and make additional referrals. The part time annual living allowance for this role is $9.000 from now until end of December, stipend pay on a bi-weekly basis equaling out to 9,000. Norwescap operates in 5 counties in Northwestern NJ including Morris, Somerset, Warren, Hunterdon, and Sussex counties. Members will have choice and flexibility of service locations.
