Job description
PURPOSE:
- The Nurses of Health Services serve under the Dean of Students. The major responsibility of the campus nurse is to promote good health on campus. The health services center offers routine and emergency health care; it also operates both preventive health and safety education programs.
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
- Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Be actively involved in the residence living program: visit the dormitory students that are ill, inspect the residence halls for safety and health problems as needed, maintain regular office hours at the health center.
- Attend to the health of commuter students: operate preventive health campaigns and maintain regular office hours at the health center.
- Maintain health records following standard operating procedures in accordance with the Official Safety and Health Act of 1970 for the length of the legal statute of limitations.
- Periodically review the health and safety aspects of the campus and submit recommendations for improvement to the Dean of Students.
- Cooperate with physical education and health instructors in developing a sound health program for all students.
- Maintain first aid and rest facilities for students, faculty, and staff.
- Review health records of students, counsel them concerning health-related problems, and make referrals when appropriate.
- Prepare records for the registrar pertaining to absences caused by illness.
- Transmit to deans, counselors, and instructors pertinent health information concerning students who have chronic or acute mental, emotional, or physical disabilities.
- Facilitate help and direction to enroll students in the health insurance program on registration day in the event they do not have insurance.
- Provide availability of required vaccines including but not limited to tuberculosis screening, MMR, Tdap, Meningitis and influenza as available.
- Navigate the Covid-19 pandemic with frequent testing, vaccinations, and contact tracing as needed. Scheduling to be determined by the Dean of Students and the Director of Health Services.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Regular office hours between 8:00a.m.– 6:00p.m., Monday – Friday and Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm but occasionally flexible hours will be required. Hours worked outside the regular office hours will be compensated through flex time.
