Nursery Worker/Caregiver
Summary:
Within the ministry and mission of First Presbyterian Church of Waco, Texas, this position involves a weekly commitment to the church family to serve as a caretaker in the nursery during Sunday School and worship services, as well as Wednesday evening activities and special services when needed.
Purpose:
To provide dependable, safe, and nurturing care to the children at First Presbyterian Church.
Accountability:
The nursery worker shall be directly accountable to the Director of Christian Education and the Nursery Coordinator. Ultimately, the individual who fills this position is accountable to the Head of Staff and the Personnel Committee of First Presbyterian.
General Qualifications:
1. Must submit a job application and be interviewed by church committee, which may consist of DCE, pastor, and associate pastor. Could include CE moderator and/or Youth Advisory Board members.
2. Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 4.
3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
4. Must have satisfactory completion of a background check and a reference check.
5. Must present the results of a current Tuberculin and current immunizations.
6. Must be willing to educate themselves on and adhere to the First Presbyterian Church Child Protection Policy.
Responsibilities:
1. To arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time of each event that is assigned.
2. To be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and other nursery employees.
3. To communicate expected absences with the Director of Christian Education and/or the Nursery
Coordinator two weeks in advance. Any unplanned absences need to be communicated at least two hours in advance.
4. Complete an online CPR certification course each year.
5. Provide age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, comforting babies, or sitting with and interacting with children through games or stories.
6. Stay until the children are secured with their parent, guardian, or appropriate family member.
7. In the event of an emergency, contact the parent, Nursery Coordinator, and Director of Christian Education.
Additionally, fill out an incident report and give to the Director of Christian Education.
8. Straighten the room and wipe down tables and changing tables before leaving.

Pay: From $9.00 per hour
