POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Recruits Nutrition Volunteers, Plans Nutrition Lessons, Coordinates Snack Preparation and Delivery

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assures all aspects of the nutrition component of the YDP are successfully implemented under the guidelines of the evidence-based CATCH program.
  • Maintains open communication with staff and volunteers at all YDP Sites
  • Assures volunteers/staff are prepared to deliver nutrition lessons
  • Identifies substitutes for volunteers as needed
  • Serves as a substitute for volunteers
  • Orders food
  • Coordinates food preparation and delivery
  • Completes and submits purchase orders and check requests to cover expenses
  • Meets weekly with supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or experience that provides the ability to meet the expectations of the position
  • Experience with community program planning, implementation and/or evaluation
  • Experience teaching elementary school children
  • Must have the ability to work within deadlines and perform multiple tasks concurrently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including engaging diverse audiences
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, work independently, and establish priorities
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Professional demeanor, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Displays high standards of attendance and punctuality and manages time effectively
  • Experience with health initiatives
