CORE OTA DUTIES: The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide full spectrum of occupational rehabilitative services under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.
- Use assessment tools, intervention techniques and treatment modalities under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.
- Use complex/multi-step instructions with patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals and adapt those instructions according to the learning styles of the trainees or individuals receiving the instructions.
- Identify, recommend and fabricate, as needed, complex adaptive and assistive devices, durable medical equipment and complex dynamic splinting, after consultation with the occupational therapist.
- Confer with members of the physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Coordinate with other departments and the clinic staff to provide complete care to patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/Degree: Occupational Therapy assistant shall have an Associate’s Degree for Occupational Therapy Assistant. Graduate from a college or university accredited at the time of graduation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
- Experience: 1) Have at least 3 years of experience within the last 5 years as an Occupational Therapist Assistant/OTA . 2) Must have previous experience in the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Clinical Certification: Certified through the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Life Support Certification: Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to pass a background check/security clearance.
STAFFING & SCHEDULING:
- Duty Hours: 1) The performance hours of the Invisible Wounds Clinic (IWC) are as follows: Contract healthcare worker will be available for work Monday through Friday (Day Shift) for a minimum of 9 hours per day to include a one hour (non-paid) lunch. The OTA may need to be available to attend regular patient-care meetings as a member of a multi-disciplinary team after normal duty hours. This will be compensated during the week it is performed (comp time). 2) The schedule will be set by the IWC Manager. 3) IWC operating hours are 0630 - 0730 Monday - Friday.
- Place of Performance:* The work to be performed will be at the IWC, 96 Medical Group, Eglin AFB*. Health Care Workers shall receive notification a minimum of two weeks prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned Military Treatment Facility.
