Job Summary


The Registration Specialist provides front desk customer service, registers students into non-credit courses and trainings offered by the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) Department and is responsible for generating the courses and trainings offered by the CEWD Department as determined by the Customized Training Representatives and Director. Serves as the primary first contact and initial impression for clients, students, vendors, and instructors.

Condcut and coordinates the registration of students into CEWD courses. This position creates and maintains continuing education and customized training courses in School Today (RST) schedules classrooms for these courses, processes student registrations, and schedules and reports on results of student surveys.

This position may be eligible for partial telwork per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Interpersonal communication and interviewing skills sufficient to determine continuing education and training customers’ concerns and respond to questions.

  • Ability to use demonstrated customer service skills to interact with others and respond with common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem resolution, empathy, and logical organization of ideas.

  • English skills (speaking, reading, writing) sufficient to explain procedures and serve as a resource to students, vendors, instructors, and staff.

  • General office practices and procedures including typing and data entry sufficient to create standard courses and register students.

  • Computer skills and knowledge of software programs such as MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access sufficient to enter and retrieve data, and format email and correspondence.

  • Math skills sufficient to correctly execute a range of payment, payroll, invoice, and other calculations.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work sufficient to organize multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail, time management, and follow through.

  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities

Physical Requirement

  • Ability to push loaded carts with books and training materials across campus, including outdoors across streets and up curbs.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

Additional Requirements

Former and current employees of Minneapolis Community and Technical College must be in good standings for consideration.
