Job description
SUMMARY:
The person in this position is responsible for maintaining electronic records for railroad field personnel, and acting as a service agent between management teams and train and engine service (T&E) personnel. Answering field emergency calls. Dispatching maintainers to crossing malfunctions. Working with the proper personnel to protect malfunctioning crossings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate and monitor train and engine service inactivity and adjust the workforce levels as required to meet service demands.
- Ensure that T&E positions are filled so that G&W North American railroads can operate in a safe and efficient manner.
- Respond to directives from field managers and public authorities.
- Assist in activities that support the operation of the train and engine crew, including but not limited to arranging crew lodging, transportation and job assignments.
- Perform various administrative duties relative to federal hours-of-service requirements.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
- Receive incoming emergency calls
- Contact emergency personnel, working with internal and external departments
- Responsible for ticketing and tracking incidents
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Sound judgment and decision making skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, etc.
- Must be able to communicate, and listen via telephone, while actively working between multiple programs or data sources.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required to include weekends and holidays, 24/7 operation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Previous experience working in a call center or office environment preferred, but not required.
