Title: Operational Risk Lead, U.S.

Reports to: SIH ERM & Risk Governance Lead

Department: Risk Management

We are hiring an Operational Risk Lead to provide 2nd-line operational risk oversight across our North American operations.

Key responsibilities include:

· Perform operational risk reviews across all relevant business units and support functions, providing observations and recommendations to management on any opportunities to improve governance and control;

· Peer review the management risk and control self-assessments ratings, including reviewing the appropriateness of any management actions to mitigate risks that are above target levels;

· Co-ordinate and present risk and control ‘clinics’ with the SBU and functional leads, and more generally act as a key liaison and partner to senior management in the U.S. on all key operational risk issues;

· Monitor the identification and satisfactory closure of operational risk events, near-miss incidents, and other issues.

· Provide operational risk reporting for the U.S. region including presentations as necessary to the local management and boards.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

· Bachelors or advanced degree in a technical or relevant field. Professional designation also preferred (CPA, CIS, CISA, etc.)

· At least 7 years’ experience within a commensurate operational risk / risk management role, i.e. audit or risk management

· At least 5 years’ experience Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance industry experience

· Proven ability to plan, organize and direct the execution of organizational goals, objectives, and complex processes;

· Ability to think strategically and stimulate creativity;

· Communicates effectively: strong written skills, speaks clearly and confidently, uses communication methods appropriate to the audience.

· Good interpersonal skills: ability to build and manage relationships, collaborate across teams, business lines, and risk disciplines. Provides leadership and guidance to senior level managers on operational risk related topics.
