Job Title: Operations Specialist
Status: Full Time Exempt

Benefits: Standard WFE Benefits are provided
Starting Salary Range: $35,000-$55,000 DOE

Supervisor: Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Work as a team with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Marketing/Events Manager, and other staff to provide excellent

events, programs and facilities for our patrons and partners
  • Responsible and accountable for the management assistance, planning, and general supervision of the following core areas to

include rentals, turnover, safety program and human resource management:
o POW/MIA Plaza

  • Turf, patio, staging, concrete care, electrical, technology and event support
o West Fargo Sports Arena
  • Ice maintenance, operations support, rentals, building equipment repair and management
o The Lights @ Sheyenne/32
  • Turf, patio, staging, light rigging, aquatic features, concrete care, electrical, technology and event support

JOB DUTIES/TASKS

  • Support and enforce all policies, safety regulations and guidelines, established by the Executive Director, Operations Manager
and/or WFE Board
  • Assist Management with long term planning for each core area
  • Assist the Event/Marketing Staff with programs
  • Manage daily activity and conversions between plaza and rental usage
  • Represent the Organization to other groups and meetings as assigned
  • Provides up-to-date information regarding events, programs and facility rental options
  • Attend meetings of the WFE Board, management staff, risk management, user group, and others when assigned
  • Responsible for the purchases within the core areas listed above
  • Develop positive relationships with individuals and groups utilizing the facilities and programs
  • Actively participate to seek revenue through rentals, grants, donations, and sponsorships
  • Participate in the strategic planning process of the West Fargo Events Board
  • Develop short and long range plans for core areas
  • Direct activities to accomplish planned goals of the Organization
  • Plan for, schedule and manage daily activities of staff
  • Review applications, interview, with Executive Director, to hire key full-time staff
  • Responsible for the management, training and supervision of full-time staff within the core areas
  • Perform regular and on-going safety training of staff
  • Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned by the Executive Director or Operations Manager

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Evidence of superior written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership within groups
  • Microsoft Office proficiency preferred

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

  • Supervises Full Time or Part Time staff as assigned

GUIDELINES
  • Enforce the West Fargo Events Personnel Policies and Procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may
require some interpretation in application


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office time and mobile, manual labor required
  • Some of the work is twill be performed outdoors, often in the cold and inclement weather conditions. The employee may be

exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, irritating chemicals, and machinery with moving parts. The work requires the use of protective
devices such as gloves, masks, or goggles.

  • The work is often performed while sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light
and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment that require a high degree of dexterity.
  • Position will require frequent evening, weekend, and holiday work
  • Fast paced environment with multiple events and facilities requiring attention simultaneously
  • General public contact is extensive


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years’ experience related to the position preferred
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
  • Ability to work weeknights and weekends frequently
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds or heavier lifting with other employees
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of operational policies, procedures, accepted standards and methods of managing facilities and events
  • Possession of or ability to obtain (within 30 days) a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of
vehicles or equipment operated
  • Have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions,

comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing and innovation
