SUMMARY
A Machine Operator I will operate a variety of machinery to fabricate component parts to meet close and complex tolerances using class A machinery, including but not limited to burn tables, presses, and saws.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform basic setups/changeovers on equipment to meet close and complex tolerances.
- Understanding of basic numerical control/robot, burn table, presses, saws, or shears operation
- Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment
- Makes mechanical/program adjustments to ensure parts meet quantity and quality requirements
- Conduct regular quality audits of parts produced through measurements and inspection components
- Performs the duties of Utility Work as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of assigned work area
- Basic machine operation and mechanical knowledge of class A Machinery
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and production systems
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write English
- Ability to perform basic shop math
- Demonstrate basic inspection and measuring skills
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of measuring devices, tape measures, calipers, angle gauges, protractors, and radius gauges.
- Basic ability to read drawings.
- Basic knowledge of root cause problem solving
- Ability to apply problem sensitivity, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, and teamwork.
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Work with general oversight
- Demonstrate motivation and initiative
- Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work under tight time constraints, handle sensitive data, and multi-task so that deadlines can be met.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 0-1 year with machine operation or manufacturing work history
