The role:

As an Outpatient Addictions Counselor, you will address the needs of outpatient substance abuse clients who need assessment for chemical dependency and/or extended treatment for these and related issues while providing an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. You will be the primary counselor providing assessments as well as individual and group counseling for the youth.

What you will need:

  • An Iowa Substance Abuse Counselor Certification, either a temporary CADC or a CADC/IADC.
  • Two years of experience in individual, group, and family therapy, and formal training in the field of substance use disorders are required.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license.

What you will do:

  • Lead groups and provide opportunities for group and individual feedback on the program and discuss problems and accomplishments.
  • Respect the client's rights to make their own decisions and to deal with the consequences and reactions to those decisions.
  • Observe all federal and state confidentiality and privacy regulations.
  • Take an active role in the development of each client's treatment plan and implements the treatment plan.
  • Provide crisis intervention for clients.
  • Network within the area to solicit referrals for the outpatient program - market the program to potential referral sources.
  • Conduct Substance Abuse Awareness Groups.
  • Arrange for payment/funding for all clients including Title XIX (Medicaid), private insurance, IMSACP Medicaid (assuring REVS line is checked), private funds, DHS, or court-ordered services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

$34,000 - 44,000 /year
